QUICK VIEW
1. Our teammates count on each other, so please ensure the schedule works for you : ) We need your dancer to attend rehearsal and performances (mandatory) so please please double-check your dancer’s availability for all performance dates! Can’t wait to dance with you! : )
2.Find the Student Portal under ‘Current Students’ on our site to register, update info, and check billing, receipts, payment methods, and history.
3. The Student Portal’s Documents link gives you updated Dance Recital Info, Pre-Registration Packet, and class recommendations for a clear, easy experience—please use it!
4. March company shows at Redondo have an 8-15 ticket minimum ($30 each), funding theater, staff, and production—100% of sales go to the production of the show and staff. Tickets may be sold in lobby to SDM families!
5. Company rehearsals vary—canceled, adjusted, or added—unlike regular classes. Refunds apply if unscheduled; extra rehearsals, if requested, are billed (rare) and added to the calendar published in August once confirmed. Thanks!
6. Privates boost skills, and are optional. 30 min recurring weekly privates cover technique (no routine attached) or choreography. Deadlines: Aug. 1st for competition solos, duets or trios &Â by Oct. 1st for recital solos, duets & trios. Let us know if you would like to schedule one asap
7. One parent or guardian must attend conventions, performances, and competitions; teachers are not responsible for dancer’s care as they are tending to details of the whole experience. Competitions also may run early and start 1 hr early; dancers arrive 1.5 hrs before group time, or they may run late.
8. Pack multiple light, healthy snacks (e.g., grapes, crackers, water) for conventions, performances, competitions—essential for calming nerves. Always have a water bottle for your dancer.
9. Encourage dancers to cheer each other on, even in competition—we’re all growing! Keep the SDM vibes positive; all studios nationally remind company parents to please skip gossip and bring concerns to us directly. Proud of our dancers and families—keep up the great work!
10. Dance conventions: multi-day workshops with industry teachers, diverse styles, hundreds of dancers, split by age (Jan 1 cutoff) All dance styles are taught regardless of your dancer’s focus. Tell us by September if attending; check convention websites for faculty info.
11. For competition focus only : Events don’t require hotels however many of our dancers enjoy staying in Disney area for Showstoppers. We suggest your book 4-6 months ahead of time. It is easier to release a room than to find one closer to the event.
12. Dancers can join ballet or additional regional competitions (including nationals) not attended by groups, however registration fees will be higher to cover teachers’ cost of being there. Teacher presence varies; all fees fund staff from registration and attendance at events.
13. SDM Jerseys are optional for most companies but mandatory for competition-focus companies – info will go out in Aug
14. Younger company classes that have age overlaps; teachers assess fit in the first few weeks. Students may be asked to move to a different level day or time depending on their performance.
15. Detailed Calendars will be coming out in August.
