Ballet is the fundamental dance technique as it develops grace, flexibility, strength, and balance. We recommend taking twice a week for future pointe work or weekly to support other styles like jazz, tap, or hip hop. Ballet students are required to wear appropriate attire (black leotard, pink tights with an optional skirt of any color, and hair in a clean bun). Ballet I is recommended for brand new students. Ballet II is usually a students second or third year in a full hour ballet class. Ballet IIB & Ballet III need teacher recommendations. Ballet company enrollment is in late spring for the following school year during preregistration. Ballet is strongly recommended to be taken twice weekly.
This is a high energy, upbeat dance class that focuses on coordination, confidence, & rhythm. Dancers will learn how to count music and will memorize exciting choreography to age appropriate popular music. Hip Hop I is recommended for brand new students. Hip Hop II is usually a student’s second or third year in a Hip Hop class. Hip Hop IIB will need a teacher recommendation. Hip Hop company enrollment is in late spring for the following school year during preregistration. Being enrolled in a Jazz class weekly is strongly recommended while training in Tap.
Jazz is an energetic class that focuses on core strength, flexibility, and technique. It’s ballet based so it has a lot of the same fundamentals, but jazz is high energy and fast past paced. Jazz students will work on turns, leaps and learn a number of routines ranging from pop music to show tunes. Jazz I is recommended for brand new students. Jazz II is usually a student’s second or third year in a full hour ballet class. Jazz IIB & Jazz III need teacher recommendations. Jumps & Turns is required with another Jazz weekly. Jazz company enrollment is in late spring for the following school year during preregistration. Being enrolled in Ballet classes weekly is strongly recommended while training in Jazz.
Tap is a great way to exercise the body as well as the mind! It challenges students to integrate rhythmic patterns using their feet as the instrument. Tap focuses on beat, timing, rhythm, and coordination. As Tap students grow and improve they will learn increasingly advanced techniques and intricate combinations. Being enrolled in a Ballet or Jazz class weekly is strongly recommended while training in Tap.
